From January 2024 Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is set to be part of the decision-making process when it comes to development. Smith Simmons and Partners are here to help advise land managers and developers on the best approach and options when it comes to your land.
Biodiversity Net Gain is a way of creating and improving natural habitats. From January 2024 when building new housing, industrial or commercial developments by law developers in England will be required to deliver 10% net positive for the local environment, for example by creating new habitats and green spaces. On 19 December The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) revisions were published in response to the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill. Our Strategic Land specialist, Lucy Brown, attended the RTPI South East Housing conference prior to this to digest the proposed revisions, understand the key challenges and consult with fellow planners on possible working solutions for planning in infrastructure and housing.
